News Re-opening to the public of the first area of the English Garden

Re-opening to the public of the first area of the English Garden on 24 April in collaboration with the students of the Artistic high school “E. Catalano” in observance of the traditional Liberation Day event on 25 April 

On 24 April, at the English Garden in the area facing Via Libertà, the opening of a part of the park restored in accordance with the recovery and restoration project conducted as part of the NRRP Restoration and Recovery Intervention of the Piersanti Mattarella Historic Park (formerly the English Garden) and the Falcone-Morvillo Parterre (formerly the Garibaldi Garden) was made official. 

Speakers included the Mayor of Palermo, Prof. Roberto Lagalla, Councillor for the Area of Environmental Policies Ecological Transition and Regeneration of Green Areas Pietro Alongi, Headmaster Francesco La Monica, Landscape Architect Loredana Tarallo and Engineer Roberto Cairone of the Municipality of Palermo, and the Headmistress of the Artistic high school ‘E. Catalano’ Rosalia Marturana and teachers.

In addition to a series of paintings displayed on easels at the main entrance to Via della Libertà, a beautiful tapestry depicting the triumphal chariot of Santa Rosalia, patron saint of the city of Palermo, was presented and set up by the students of the Liceo Artistico ‘E. Catalano’.

The event, anticipated and enabled the traditional demonstration and honouring of the fallen soldiers on 25 April Liberation Day.
